ABOUT THE COURSE
Come and sing with the School at Christmas! This is a special course with special music! The course includes whole-group singing plus sessions in smaller groups with others their age, where they can for example focus on musical games and exercises to improve sight reading. There will be an informal concert at the end of the day to which families are warmly invited to attend. The course is designed for those aged 7 - 13/14 with upper voices.
The repertoire will be festive music from around the world - more details will be shared soon.

Samantha Wickham and The Oxford & Cambridge Singing School team
History
The Oxford and Cambridge Singing school was established in 2013 at St Catharine's College, Cambridge when Directors Samantha and Edward Wickham couldn't find quality musical activities for their own children to do in the holidays. Soon the OCSS expanded to Worcester College, Oxford which is St Catharine's sister college in Oxford. Dr Wickham had also just established the first girls' chapel based chorister choir in the country. Since then other colleges in Oxford, Cambridge and abroad have followed suit.
Our Creative Director, Dr Edward Wickham was a chorister at St George's College, Windsor and then after gaining a music scholarship to his secondary school he went to study at Christ Church, Oxford. For each course he selects music that is fun, challenging and engaging for children to learn. We've had many participants go on to become choristers, win music scholarships to their next schools, join choirs, take part in their school plays, achieve highly in their ABRSM/Trinity exams and sing in professional operas amongst other achievements.
